It's officially Fall and the weekends seem to be getting shorter and shorter, but who else is excited for sweater weather? :)
Thank you to those who were able to volunteer and place items in the Used Skate Sale and to the skaters who showcased all the different activities the Ice Center offers, such as our Club figure skaters and Theater on Ice! It's great to see so many excited about skating! Any unsold items from the Sale can be picked up from the rink ASAP! Please check with the office to let them know you are picking up items, which are located behind the concession stand.
LCSC Spirit Days:
Our first Club Spirit Day is this Friday September 28th - Crazy Hair Day!
Each month during our Spirit Day we will have a drawing for a $5 gift card: Starbucks, Target, Subway... You aren't required to participate, but just drop your name into our drawing during Club time for a chance to win! Winners each month will also be announced in the Weekly Update for a great way to get to know some of our skaters!
LCSC Parade Participation:
Our Club has been invited to join the Hope Heritage Days parade this Sunday September 30th. There will be a SignUp for skaters who would like to participate!
We will also be walking in the upcoming Ethnic Expo parade on Saturday October 13th. Please also be looking for a SignUp regarding details for skaters who wish to join. We are excited for these two opportunities for LCSC to be involved in the community and promote our wonderful Club and skaters!
LCSC Group Photo:
Tami Mohs will be taking a group photo of Club skaters on Wednesday October 3rd, at 5:00pm on the small ice. Because of limited space and use of the bulletin boards, our Club will only have room to display an 8x10 group photo at the rink. Any individual photos are still being confirmed, if skaters would like to purchase for themselves. At this time, we are asking that skaters plan to wear black pants and their Club jackets (or a black jacket) for the group photo.
Volunteer Opportunties:
It might seem too early to be thinking about the Ice Show, but as a reminder, anyone who will be volunteering in close contact with skaters must complete the online SafeSport certification offered on the US Figure Skating Association's website: https://www.usfsaonline.org/SafeSport This is a requirement from the USFSA in order for our Club and members to stay compliant. It is a simple course, but can take approximately 2-3 hours to complete, so it's a good idea to leave yourself plenty of time to start thinking about it! :)
There are still a few Committee Chair opportunities available within our Board! Holding a Committee position also waives the required 15-hour volunteer commitment. Be sure to ask a Board member for more info if you're interested!
